Costumes, candy, music, and plenty of Halloween spirit are returning to downtown Danbury as CityCenter Danbury, in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Greater Danbury, presents the 34th Annual Halloween on the Green on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the CityCenter Green on Ives Street.
For 34 years, Halloween on the Green has brought generations of Danbury families together for a fun, festive, and free community celebration. This year, the Green will once again transform into a Halloween gathering filled with costumes, entertainment, local vendors, music, food, family-friendly activities, and plenty of treats for children of all ages.
One of the most anticipated traditions of the afternoon is the Children’s Costume Parade, where young ghosts, goblins, superheroes, princesses, and creatures of all kinds can show off their creativity and Halloween spirit.
Prizes will be awarded in three fun categories: Most Original, Spookiest, and Cutest.
To keep the celebration enjoyable for all ages, families are encouraged to keep costumes creative, festive, and family-friendly while avoiding overly graphic, gory, or intensely frightening costumes.
“We want Halloween on the Green to feel exciting, welcoming, and fun for every child who comes downtown,” said Lazaro Chavez, Executive Director of CityCenter Danbury. “There’s something really special about seeing hundreds of families together, the kids proudly showing off their costumes, and our community partners coming together to create a memorable afternoon. That’s what this event is all about.”
The first 800 children in costume will also receive a Halloween goodie bag, generously provided by AFC Urgent Care.
Guests can also enjoy Halloween music, local vendors, a photo booth, children’s activities, and complimentary food and beverages provided by The Salvation Army of Danbury, who will be on-site with their relief truck throughout the afternoon.
CityCenter Danbury extends a special thank-you to Ives Bank and Ventura Law, whose generous sponsorship helps make this longtime community tradition possible and allows Halloween on the Green to remain free for all who attend!
A big Halloween thank-you also goes to Lesser Evil, which generously donated popcorn for the celebration and helped add an extra treat for the hundreds of children expected to attend.
“Events like this truly take a community,” Chavez added. “From our sponsors and partners to our volunteers, vendors, and everyone who comes downtown to celebrate with us, we’re grateful for the support that has helped Halloween on the Green remain a Danbury tradition for 34 years.”
In the event of rain, festivities will move to Patriot Garage, Parking Level 4, located at 21 Delay Street, just steps from CityCenter Green.
Families are encouraged to bring their costumes, Halloween spirit, and little boos for an afternoon of festive fun in the heart of downtown Danbury.
