Can you believe it? Macaroni KID Greater Danbury is celebrating our Sweet 16! That's right, 16 years ago I was a new mom, contemplating during my 1-hour commute to work how I could leave my corporate job so that I can spend more time at home with my first daughter who was a year old at the time. Then that same week, the publishing opportunity with Macaroni KID literally landed in my voicemail box. Shortly thereafter I signed on as one of the first 30 publishers of Macaroni KID (now we have hundreds nationwide!) and the first one of us to publish here in Connecticut. I was so excited to bring this web site to our community because as a new mom (originally from Long Island, NY) I had no idea where all the family fun activities were. So not only did Macaroni KID provide me the opportunity to work from home but it also helped me learn all about what the Greater Danbury community offers to families like mine. I had my second daughter a few years later, and as time went on I was full in to motherhood and out-and-about in the community learning all about play spaces, farms, festivals, dance classes, music classes -- you name it! So my kids were truly among the first Macaroni Kids and many of those family experiences have helped shaped this publication into what it is today.
I'm very proud of what I've been able to create with this edition of Macaroni KID and am always humbled when I meet our followers like you who share how much you've relied on Macaroni KID over the years to help plan family fun activities for you family. So how could I not celebrate such a milestone with all of you? Many of you may recall years ago we celebrated our 5th, 6th and 7th years publishing called "Birthday Bash". Well, this event will be similar in that we will be bringing together birthday party venues, entertainers, gifts, bakeries and more to help you plan your child's party from their 1st birthday to their Sweet 16 and every one in between! This time, we will be holding the event at the Danbury Fair mall as this year, they are celebrating their own amazing milestone -- their 40th Anniversary! So you get a two-for-one celebration! It all goes down in Center Court with a DJ, costumed characters and our business sponsors who will each have a fun interactive activity at their booth to showcase what they have to offer for parties. So let the celebration and party planning begin! Join us on October 10th from 12-3pm. Admission is free, but as customary with attending a party, we're asking attendees to consider bringing an unwrapped "gift". These gifts will be 100% donated to Family & Children's Aid in Danbury. A list of needed items is provided below.
